Welcome to ASCE Colorado Section

The Colorado Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers was formed in 1909. Since then the Section has been actively involved in the advancement of the science and profession of civil engineering in the great state of Colorado.

The Colorado Section of the ASCE allows civil engineers who live and/or work in the Colorado community to network, exchange ideas, build leadership skills and create lifelong professional connections. We are continually looking for motivated volunteers.

2017 ASCE PARKING LOT DESIGN CONTEST

Aurora West Civil Engineering Club participated in the 2017 Parking Lot Design Contest organized by ASCE Hawaii Section.   The contest includes three parts: The plan, The Report and A video presentation.

The team  composed of four students: Left to right. Angel Dominguez, Ramon Estupiñan, Jesus Marquez, Tony Soto (Not in the photo) and the Director Roger L. Torres.

The objectives of our design were: to improve parking efficiency, controlled by aisles and entrances/exits, maximum number of stalls, and landscaping to minimize the asphalt paved area.  A set of rules, guidelines, cost worksheet, and design standards were provided by the organizing team.

The experience was quite beneficial to the students, as they learned and practiced engineering concepts that included design process, team work and brain storming. Students also used design standards, design restrictions, sustainability and risk concepts. All tasks were performed as an engineer at an engineering consulting firm.

Thank you letters from fourth graders for the Dream Big (http://www.asce.org/dream-big/) field Trip - (Thank you Aimee for sharing the letters)

It is with great excitement that we ask you to join the Colorado Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers in hosting the premier event for Dream Big, the first IMAX of its kind, a giant screen film focusing on engineering. Our goal through this event is to inspire children to explore engineering and promote this exploration to their parents. We also want to show the local community and leaders the impact civil engineering and infrastructure has on daily life. We will be holding a Red Carpet Premier Event, marketed towards children and their families, on February 18, 2017 at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. We will be filling the IMAX Theater (390 seats!) with former, current, and future engineers and their families! Tickets are $15 each and are on sale now and selling fast. Click Register Now to get your tickets. Credit card sales only, no check or pay at the door.
